Asquith is located 26 km north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Hornsby Shire. The suburb contains a section of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park on its eastern side. It may be considered part of the Hills District, the Upper North Shore, or the Northern Suburbs.
Asquith History
Asquith was named in 1915 after the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, H. H. Asquith.
Asquith railway station opened on 1 November 1915, in conjunction with land released by R. Halloran & Company. Asquith post office opened on 27 September 1920 and Asquith school opened during March 1930.
Wrigley’s Chewing Gum factory opened its first Australian office in 1961 in Asquith, and continues to operate from the same site.

According to the 2011 census of Population, there were 3,474 residents in Asquith. 66.9% of residents were born in Australia. The most common other countries of birth were England 4.3%, China 2.9% and New Zealand 2.4%. 75.7% of residents spoke only English at home. Other languages spoken at home included Mandarin 3.5%, Cantonese 2.9% and Korean 1.6%. The most common responses for religious affiliation were Catholic 25.7%, Anglican 22.0% and No Religion 21.4%.
